I am here again! I seriously need to go back to updating my LJ more. I will do that, I promise!
Anyway. I am here today for a very important reason. That is, I NEED TO FANGIRL ABOUT MY NEW FANDOM - SHERLOCK. ANYBODY WANT TO JOIN ME? ♥
Okay, first of all, very obvious and rhetorical question - WHY HAVEN'T I WATCHED THIS SERIES BEFORE. Seriously. It's set in the UK, there are murderers and crimes, there aresexy British people talking in a very sexy British accent, there are also freakin' hints of Sherlock/John - WHAT HAVE I BEEN MISSING.
Ahem. I'll try to express my love for this show without going too much 'asdfghjkl', but I can't guarantee it. XD; So, let's see. Where should I even start? Um, maybe I should start by admitting that... I've never actually read any of the Sherlock Holmes books. And yes, now I am ashamed that I never read those. And yes, now I want to read them like crazy. Well, actually, I did start to read one a couple of years ago, it was a very short book that belonged to one of my friends. I never finished reading it, though, 'cause she needed the book to improve her English, so I couldn't keep it for long. I don't even remember what the title was. While when I was younger, 10 years old or so, I had to read one of Sherlock Holmes' books and I remember clearly what the title was - The Hound of the Baskervilles. I had to read it like, in one or two months and make a summary of it to prove that I had read it. (It was something compulsory at my elementary school - it was some project to involve us children to read more.) But of course, being the stubborn person that I am and not liking when people force me to do something (even though it's something I enjoy doing, like reading), guess what? I never read it. XD; Yeah, I've always been like that - I'm weird, I know. But I even if I had read it, I think I would've hardly understood anything, really. (I did make a summary of it, though - by searching around the internet and reading only the last chapter, where the mystery was solved. Though now I don't even remember how the book ended. I am the worst, I know. XD;)
So yeah, bottom line is - I was never into the books. So, why am I so much into the TV show? Because it's freaking AMAZING.
The plot, for starters. Setting Sherlock Holmes in the 21st century. It's just done so flawlessly - it all works. Granted I never read the books, so again, I can't say whether the series remains true to the books or not (though I've heard it does) - seriously, though, if somebody who has no idea whatsoever of who Sherlock Holmes is, or has absolute no knowledge of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's books (which... sounds an awful lot like me), ends up watching this series somehow, they would think Sherlock is an amazing 21st century consulting detective, and not one of literature's oldest and most known characters. That's how awesome this series is. This is seriously well-thought and well-written.
Then, the characters. I love Sherlock. ♥ I love John. I love Mycroft. Heck, I even love Lestrade! Seriously, there isn't a character I don't like. ... except maybe Moriarty, but he's the bad guy. Sherlock has gotta be my favourite, though, soon followed by John. They all have their unique personalities, and they all are funny in their own way. Sherlock has the best lines, though. XD "I'm not a psychopath, I'm a high-functioning sociopath - do your research." I LOVE THIS LINE. Along with many, many others. XD
Which, of course, brings me to one of the things I love the most about the show - THE ACTORS. If I have to be honest, I have to admit that I've never seen those actors before. I know they've done other things before Sherlock. Heck, I even watched Atonement years ago and it's also one of my favourite movies and Benedict Cumberbatch is in it and I had no idea who he was! But anyway. I think everybody does a great, great job on this show. Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman and Mark Gatiss are just a real pleasure to watch and their acting is so... I can't even find the words to describe how awesome they all are, seriously. And I'm really, really happy that they won all those BAFTAs, they really deserve it! ♥
... and, of course, when you're talking about Sherlock and its actors, you cannot NOT talk about that awesome man that is Benedict Cumberbatch. It appears that I have been "Cumberbatched", too, haha! XD Seriously, though, I never would have imagined just what a fanbase he has. Now I know because I've seen some of his interviews and I also went around a few LJ comms. XD But really, how can anyone not like this man? He's not only extremely gorgeous (those eyes, that adorable smile and that freaking amazing voice...!), but extremely talented as well! ♥ I've recently seen one of his plays, "The Turning Point" (I found it on youtube and I was in heaven when I did!) and I loved it. I know he's also done another play recently, "Frankenstein", and I so wish I could have seen him there! Argh, the downside of being a fan and living in another freaking country. :( But that shall change once I'll be in Scotland, mwuahahahaha! *evil laugh*... at least I hope so. Now I'm planning on watching The Last Enemy as well, I've only seen half of the first episode, but it looks like such an interesting and deep series!
And now, last but not least, one of the things I enjoy the most about this show - Sherlock/John. Alas, MY NEW OTP. Seriously, how the heck can anybody not ship them?! (Unless, of course, you're not into slash. XD) They're just... so... shippable? Is that even a word? XD I shipped them even before the first episode ended! I knew I would have shipped them, 'cause I'm all about boyxboy pairings, but I never thought I would have liked them so much and so quickly. The restaurant scene was what won me over. You Sherlock fans know what I'm talking about. Just... THAT SCENE. How can you NOT ship Sherlock/John after this:
Can you blame me for liking this pairing? Can you REALLY blame me? There are hints all over the place! This conversation was just one of them! It's like Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss are doing this because they actually want us to ship this pairing, seriously.AND IT TOTALLY WORKS
I've also watched Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law and I loved it! ♥ And you know what I just noticed? That all these actors that I love are doing something related to Sherlock Holmes. RDJ has done a movie, Benedict Cumberbatch is doing the BBC series... I wonder if some other actor will join in? XD It's like they all want me to read the books and get into the SH fandom.WELL IT'S WORKING
Ahem. Well, I believe I've fangirled enough for now. XD Oh, and I still need to go see the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie. By the way, I noticed recently that I'm waiting for a lot of movies to be released. I'm waiting for Iron Man 3, The Avengers, Harry Potter: The Deathly Hallows Part II, The Dark Knight Rises, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and, last but not least, The Hobbit by Peter Jackson! ♥ Oh my gosh, I'm so happy that Peter Jackson will be directing this movie! He's such a talented director and by far my favourite! ♥ ♥ Also, did I mention that Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch are going to be in it, as well?! SO MANY AWESOME MOVIES WITH SO MANY AWESOME PEOPLE, I DON'T EVEN. JUST. BRAIN CANNOT COPE.
On another fandom note, LEVERAGE IS BACK. ♥ ♥ ♥ I missed this show so much. I missed the awesome actors, ad well as the fantastic interaction between the characters. And the Nate/Sophie, oh gosh, I LOVE THIS PAIRING TO PIECES. ♥ Also, both Sterling and Tara are coming back in this season and I'm so happy about it, I love all the characters and I wish all of them would always be on the show. The plot is also going to be very interesting, as apparently someone is out to get the team... I can't wait for the next episodes!! ♥
And this somehow brings me to the point that... I had two dreams about Leverage. And one of them was the best dream ever.
The first dream was nothing extraordinary, I just dreamed that I was watching the first episode with... Timothy Hutton and Aldis Hodge (who play Nate and Hardison on the show). Yeah, totally normal, you know. XD
But the second dream was actually way more funny and weird. I dreamed I was on a train and I was part of the Leverage team! <3 We were in the middle of a con and our target was a woman on the train, who was followed around by two bodyguards. The plan was to get rid of the bodyguards and let Eliot (Christian Kane) seduce the woman with his 'charming skills'. XD So Nate, Sophie and Hardison stayed in one room at the end of the train and they gave us instructions through our earbugs (much like it happens on the real show). So basically it was up to me and Parker get rid of the bodyguards, so that Eliot could get closer to the other woman. And... we... did the most absurd thing. XDD Basically, we sat in a corner, kinda like we wanted to hide, but then we got in the middle of the vagoon and started dancing and shouting and what not! LMAO XDD But it worked, because the bodyguards had noticed us and Eliot was able to approach the woman! XD
And then I just... woke up. XD And when I remembered my dream later that morning, oh my, I laughed like crazy! XDD
Oh, and by the way. I WANT A LEVERAGE/SHERLOCK CROSSOVER. I know it's never gonna happen, but I seriously want to see those two series collide. Imagine the reactions of the various characters! It would be awesome.Although I think Christian Kane and Benedict Cumberbatch in the same scene would be too much for the tv to handle. Heck, ALL the actors in the same scene would be too much awesome to handle! ... That's why I started writing a Leverage/Sherlock crossover fic. XD By the looks of it, it's gonna be a multi-chapter fic and right now the prologue is done and I'm starting to write chapter 1. Who knows when/if I'll be able to publish it? I hope I can do it soon, but first I'll need to write at least a few chapters. Wish me luck! :D
Well, that's it for this incoherent fandom post. XD I still need to comment the season finale of Gossip Girl, which, to my surprise, I actually enjoyed a lot. ♥
And I will reply to your comments, guys! I'm just... really slow at it. /headdesk

John: You don't have a girlfriend, then?
Sherlock: Girlfriend, no, not really my area.
John: Alright. [pause] You have a boyfriend? [Sherlock looks at him] Which is fine, by the way.
Sherlock: I know it's fine.
[Small pause]
John: So you've got a boyfriend.
Sherlock: No.
(And at this point I'm basically, "Oh. My. God. I am going to ship this pairing. I can just feel it.")
John: Fine, okay. You're unattached. Just like me. Fine. Good.
Sherlock: [is quiet for a few seconds, then speaks] John... I think you should know that I consider myself married to my work, and while I'm flattered by your interest, I'm really not looking for anything...
John: [chocking a little on his food] No - I'm not asking - no. I'm just saying. It's ALL fine.
Sherlock: ... Good. Thank you.
(John's face at the end of this is priceless - it's like he's basically thinking, 'What have I done?!')
(And at this point I'm in my chair, squealing in delight like the shameless fangirl that I am and going, "I SHIP IT NOW. I SHIP IT SO HARD.")
Can you blame me for liking this pairing? Can you REALLY blame me? There are hints all over the place! This conversation was just one of them! It's like Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss are doing this because they actually want us to ship this pairing, seriously.
