comes out of video gaming to update

I've been video gaming like there's no tomorrow. This is partly due to the fact that Andrew got me a super amazing RPG for 3DS which I've been wanting for a while. It's called Tales of the Abyss and man, I LOVE IT.

As for my birthday, it was great. Since Andrew had to work on my actual birthday, we decided to celebrate my pre-birthday, that is the day before my birthday.

We went to Perth and just spent our time going around shops and having coffee. We wanted to have lunch at an Italian place, but it was closed (however, we have decided to go have lunch there sometime soon), so we ended up going for a coffee and a snack at Costa. We went to an art shop and Andrew bought quite a lot of stuff (because he's thinking of going into environmental architecture) and he got me a reporter notebook, so I can write down ideas for articles/stories and whatnot. Then we went to Game and Andrew bought me Tales of the Abyss. I thought he had bought it for himself at first and I was indeed surprised when he told me that it was actually a gift for me. XD Then we went to Waterstones and Andrew bought a manga. And that's about it!

I spent the day of my actual birthday at Andrew's house and it turns out his mom and his sister also bought me gifts! Andrew's mom got me a teacup with a cat on it, plus a small red teapot, which I adore. ♥ (I have a thing for teapots.) Andrew's sister got me some very nice chocolate from Thorntons, which I am enjoying slowly, day by day. ♥

And let's not forget all the people who wished me happy birthday, both here on DW and on Facebook! :D Every one of your wishes made my day so much better and made me so happy! ♥

So yeah, overall my birthday was great, thanks to everyone both in real and internet life. :D

I'm also getting into the habit of writing an article every day to put into my "clippings" and that I can then use as samples for magazine editors. It's just a bit hard coming up with ideas, though. If you guys would you like to suggest an idea for an article, go right ahead! Pretty much anything goes (as long as I'm able to talk about it, of course). :)

And now, I shall go back to Tales of the Abyss.

I have too many fandoms and not enough icon space. You'd think a paid account of 250 icons would be enough, right? Nope. Not for me. I'm trying to delete some icons so I can make space for other fandoms and I'm trying to have between 3 and 5 icons for each fandom... but of course it doesn't work that way. Because for some fandoms I want to upload 10+ icons and that leaves no space for other fandoms. Also, the ever-present problem of 'which icon do I delete'. I want to keep pretty much 90% of the icons I already have uploaded. So I have no space to upload new icons. I'm seriously considering giving in an just buy some permanent icon space, but I don't know if I should.

My advisor of studies replied to one of my emails. She wants to meet on Thursday, which is the day of my last resit. That, and the fact that she did not reply to my second email (the one where I had asked her some serious questions and told her I was considering not going to the resits) slightly ticks me off, to be honest. I kinda needed some advice about my resits. I know she probably wants to meet and talk about this calmly, but she could have written something via email. She could have told me what she thought about me not going to my resits. But nope. Nothing. She's not exactly doing much to make me like her.

I have some great news though - I think I've made a new friend! :D Her name is Aisling and she's an American who's lived in Scotland for most of her life. I met her a while ago, while going with Andrew to this place where young christians hang out (although I'm not religious, Andrew is and I decided to tag along for the discussions). I added her on Facebook, but I was too shy to talk to her. But I wanted to get to know her better, if that makes sense? So after thinking about it, I decided to send her a message and we started talking. She's studying coding and programming at a college, so we geeked about that for a while and then moved onto a variety of other topics, like books, games, university and such. We talked for hours. She doesn't play much video games, but I told her that there's a variety of games out there and that she probably hasn't played the right game yet! So I told her about the Harvest Moon games, which I'm completely addicted to. She told me she'd like to try them out! :D So we're meeting sometime next week, on Andrew's day off from work, to hang out and I promised her I would lend her my Harvest Moon game so she could try it out! Ahh, it's so great to make friends. Shows that I still can make friends. And as usual, I make more friends outside of my uni course than in the actual classroom. So yeah, I'm really happy about having made a new friend. ♥

Andrew and his dad went away yesterday with their climbing coach to do some serious climbing and they won't be back until Thursday, which is the day of Andrew's birthday. I'm getting him a cover for his Macbook, because I don't know what else to get him and I already got him a copy of Catcher in the Rye last year as a random present. Ever since he started his job he's bought me quite a lot of presents: a pair of earrings, the whole Sailor Moon manga in Italian and Animal Crossing: New Leaf! And I'm pretty sure he's going to buy me the new Harvest Moon game (A New Beginning), as soon as it comes out in Europe, as a present for my birthday, which is... relatively soon, actually (20th August). I'm going to be 22, you guys. Scary thought.

So, I promised I'd talk about books... and here it is! Beware though, I've read quite a lot of books in the past few months, I'll try to summarise my thoughts as much as I can, but for some books I need to rant, so... you've been warned!

fandoms and personal thoughts

Hello people and happy Easter! :D

I'm writing this entry from Andrew's house. My semester ended officially today, but since I had no more lectures after Wednesday, I've actually started my holidays a bit earlier. I am so happy to finally be on holiday! I have my exams relatively early in April (22nd, 25th and 3rd of May), but I only need to study for two of them, since the exam on the 3rd is just to test my ability to solve a problem question and the lecturer will give us all the materials we need in the exam to reply to the question. So really, since I don't need to revise for it, it means that my summer holidays will begin on the 25th of April this year! :D

I want to look for a job here in Scotland, maybe as a tourist guide somewhere (I do know three languages after all), so I can save some money for the next academic year. I know there are no jobs for young people like me in Italy right now, so it would be pointless to even look for one there.

I'm reading The Amber Spyglass right now (I'm halfway through it) and I'm enjoying it. I read and finished The Subtle Knife in less than a week and... I didn't enjoy it as much. ( spoilers )

I also watched Doctor Who last night. I haven't caught up with it yet (I'm still watching the episodes with the Ninth Doctor), but Andrew's family wanted to watch it, so I decided why not. XD I enjoyed it, but... am I the only one who doesn't like Clara? There's just something about her that really annoys me for some reason. *braces herself for angry comments from DW!f-list*

Anyway, fandom aside... I actually have something very personal that I want to talk about, specifically: my asexuality. ( cut for those who are not interested. i talk about my relationship with andrew, plus relationships and sex in general )

Anyway, I'll start a meme this month, so I can update my journal every day. :D Hope you guys all have a great Easter holidays!

good news!

Problem resolved, guys! :D This morning I called UCAS's Customers Service Units and after a couple of minutes I was able to solve the problem and now my application is being processed! ♥ I was so scared/nervous of calling, but it didn't go that bad! XD The guy who picked up the phone was really nice and polite (which to me is a big pro, because sometimes when we phone to some Italian customer service the people who pick up the phone don't act professional at all). He even pronounced my name right (foreign speakers also have trouble with my name)! Ohohoh~ *thumbs up* 8Db And asdfghjkl THAT BRITISH ACCENT. ♥ I had to make an effort in order to listen to what he was saying, 'cause that accent was distracting. XD After the call, I wanted to call Customer Service Units again, just to hear that accent over the phone, hahaha~ ~~... wait. Am I fangirling over a phone call? XD~~

Anyway. Sorry to make you all worry. ♥ Everything's okay now. :D

This afternoon I watched a movie called Not Since You. Guess what. I cried at the end. ;__; I seriously didn't think it was going to make me cry, even though the plot was pretty sad... but the ending, it just killed me. And the actors were amazing. ... Okay, I admit I wanted to watch it at first just because Christian Kane and Desmond Harrington were in it. XD; But the ending. THE ENDING. I didn't expect it to end like that, so yeah... that was what got me the most. ♥ Great job!

Yo, guys! :D I feel quite cheerful today. I was suddenly hit by inspiration yesterday night and started writing one of the crossover fanfictions I had in mind and I kind of like the way it's turning out. :D Also, I watched Gossip Girl's latest episode today (4x10) and I also managed to catch up on a couple of Leverage episodes.

And well, today I had to prepare a presentation in German for the history teacher about a topic that I wanted and I chose mafia. Funny part is... the sicilian mafia is called Cosa Nostra, but... instead of saying that, I said Casa Nova and then, as soon as I'd realized what I'd just said, I laughed and everyone started laughing, too. LOOOOOOL. XD

I worked so hard on that presentation, with the power point and everything. I spent 6 FREAKIN' HOURS making it. And I got... 8 and a half! :D That's, like, one of the highest grades you can get in Italy. So, yay for me! :D

Anyway, Monday was my friend's birthday. She's 18 now, yay! :D ~~why is everybody turning 18 except for me?~~ She's throwing a party tonight and I'm so totally going. First I'll have to get ready, but the party starts at 9:30 pm, so I have plenty of time to take a shower, wash & curl my hair and decide what to wear. I'm going to have so much fun tonight! :D

I was going to do a meme, but right now I don't feel like doing something that requires even a little bit of energy, though. XD; I'm just too tired. Will do that another time.

Also, recently I have this... sudden urge to play Fire Emblem. It's been ages since I last played Fire Emblem. I just finished one more chapter, though, didn't go that far. I really need a lot of time on my hands if I want to play FE correctly. I mean, it took me one HOUR to finish just one chapter, wtf? XD; It was fun playing, nonetheless.

Well... I don't want to talk about school, so that's pretty much everything, I think. I am currently downloading Gossip Girl's last episode of season 2. Expect some fangirling once I watch it, which will probably be tomorrow or someday soon~ :D

This has got to be one of the most lovely evenings I've ever spent. I went out with four girls - three were my classmates, while one girl was from the other class, but I knew her because we'd been in the theater group together. We went to a restaurant and ate pizza together, then just walked around the city centre for an hour or so and took photos. It was really nice. I usually hang out with my other friends, although we live pretty far from each other, so we never hang out on weekends. The girls I went out with invited me to spend Valentine's Day with them and I gladly accepted. They're borders at my school, so we could easily meet, since I live very close to the city centre. It was so nice of them, really, I'm moved. We had fun~ :D

Actually, I was going to do a meme, but right now I'm just too tired. Will do a couple of memes tomorrow, since I'll probably need something to post anyway. XD;

TOMORROW IS SINGLE'S DAY, HYUUUU~~ Oh yeah, I'm so proud of being single. :D Actually, I'm not sure February 15th has been officially recognized as Single's Day, but I've always celebrated Single's Day the day after Valentine's Day, so now it's become a habit. XD; Though, I do hear people talking about Single's Day...

Oh, and I totally love this song. I was singing it like crazy today. XD; I set it as my ringtone on my cellphone. So now, whenever my mobile starts ringing, it goes, 'SO WHAT? I'M STILL A ROCKSTAR, I GOT MY ROCK MOVES AND I DON'T NEED YOU' until the end of the chorus. XD

Today be Talk Like a Pirate Day (me almost forgot 'cos we don't have TLaPD in Italy) and this be me first time talking like a pirate and I thinks I fails at it. XD; ~~All I know about the pirate language is thanks to PotC and Jack Sparrow. <3 Well, at least my real mistakes will be covered. XD;~~

Anyway, me has recently been ill. Fever, mates, a very bad one. But now I feels better, so tomorrow I will be goin' to school. Not really that happy 'bout it, actually. I has a stupid test for those people what failed Maths last year and I ain't prepared for it one bit. ~~I will NEVER be prepared enough for ANY Maths tests, really. D:~~

Not much to talk about. xD;

Today I went out with my friends for two hours. We took some drinks at a bar and then we talked about some serious school stuff. Yeah, nothing much, but I found it relaxing. ^^
But now I don't have my schoolbag. I left it in my friends' room. xD; You see, the door was closed and they didn't have the key, so they're going to give it to me tomorrow.

I haven't got much to talk about, I know. xD; Oh, well, this is my life. But I like it that way. ^^
